Want to have an iPhone but for some reason you can't get your hands on one and instead have an iPod Touch? Then you're in luck, some random company based in Guangzhou, China has made a device that allows you to turn your iPod Touch into something that works like an iPhone. You've heard that right, the guys in China did it first.

What the device basically does is allowing the addition of a SIM card so that you can call with your iPod Touch. In order to do this, the device includes a speaker on top so that you can hear the calls, a SIM card slot, a baseband chip, a dock connector port and a "vibration motor" (possibly for silent mode or a similar functionality). Take note that it doesn't support 3G.

As with unofficial Apple products, you need to jailbreak your iPod Touch to gain access to the full features that the Apple Peel offers. The device will then install 2 applications, "Yosion" and "YsSMS".

As you can see, the user interface of Yosion has striking similarities with the phone application of the iPhone.

The SMS functionality is also similar to the iPhone.

You can then import your contacts from the SIM card to the on-board memory.

Overall, this is a nifty device to say the least. The question is, what will Apple do once they knew the existence of such device.
What's in it for you as a consumer?
(1) Save heaps from buying an expensive Apple iPhone 3G!
(2) Convert any unwanted or unused iPod (2nd or 3rd generation) to a real functioning, real Apple iPhone
(3) Avoid buy cheap knockouts or fake iPhone!
(4) Save tons of money making free calls via VIBER app on iPhone (it is free too)
(5) Send unlimited text messages to any phone number in the world via HeyWire free Apps

Downsides:
(1) Converted iPod can make use of 3G network only
(2) Does not support GPRS

What's Next?

Apple iPhone 4G: Send free worldwide texting (sms, BlackBerry, Google Android, Auckland, iPhone Repair)

Those who love to text are going to love this particular App. Hey Wire is designed to give the user a new number for SMS texting friends anywhere for free.  http://tiny.cc/HeyWire

That means you could be anywhere in the world and send off “lost in the desert somewhere” to your friends. This App also supports Facebook chat, and there are more services to be.
This App is free!
The HeyWire concept deserves an incredible honorable mention, free international texting and domestic. Who would not enjoy free international (and domestic texting)? Eliminating the need to pay the phone company ridiculous texting fees almost sounds impossible but that is exactly what HeyWire aims to offer.
The application gives you a personal phone number (USA Based) which allows you to send free text messages to your friends inside the USA and your friends outside the USA alike. HeyWire does not have any special requirements, it does not overload the application with advertisements and there are no necessary advertisements attached to each text message.
This is the exact reason why this application gets rated "Excellent" for concept. There is not much more you could ask for from a free texting service.
There are several other services on the iPhone which can be used for free texting, such as Google Voice. Another commonly used app is Textfree Unlimited. While these applications do offer free domestic texting on the iPhone, they do not offer service comparable to HeyWire.
The HeyWire service is quite simple to use. Signing up for an account is done upon first run of the application and you will be assigned a phone number. Phone numbers are limited to a very small area and, therefore, you will likely not be able to find a local number. This is not a big deal since the service is free.
Sending text messages to domestic numbers is just as you would expect. Simply enter the phone number or select the contact from your iPhone's address book and enter your message. Press send and your friend receives the text message as if it was sent to a regular phone. Your friends can simply text the number back and you will receive the message.
International text messaging is equally easy. Simply enter "+" and the country code, followed by the full phone number. Enter the message and press send. HeyWire supports most major cell phone carriers in most countries. Your friend will receive the text message from your USA based number. They will have to reply back to your USA number which may cost them some money, but it will always be free for you. If they happen to have a smart phone with Internet connectivity, they could consider using HeyWire as well to create completely free texting back to friends in the USA.
Messages are delivered instantly or nearly instantly. After extensive usage, no messages have been lost or failed to send, that includes several days worth the messages to international destinations such as El Salvador. Overall the service is excellent and the messages get to where they should in a timely fashion, just as if they were sent from a regular cell phone.
The HeyWire application is right on par with quality of service. The application is very easy to use, intuitive, responsive, and has many of the features which we want to see in a texting application.
There are a large number of customization options which range from setting signatures to changing the text
tone. Push notifications can be enabled or disabled, which is essential for a texting application. The HeyWire app reads your Address Book directly which is a nice feature, you won't have to worry about entering your contacts again into the app.
Messages are display similarly to the default texting application. Messages appear in a handy list, tapping one will bring up a chat style window with bubble text. Responding is just as easy as using the default iPhone texting application. When new messages come in, you are notified with a text tone. If the HeyWire app is not open, a push notification will appear with the contact name and the message. Clicking on the push notification will launch the app and bring up that conversation.
HeyWire is quite possible one of the best domestic texting apps for the iPhone, and without a doubt the best free international texting app. This app possesses many of the qualities of a paid application and the service offers outstanding quality.
There is not much left to be desired with the HeyWire application and service. Overall, it has come a long way since the initial first release and HeyWire has announced plans to add a Mac, PC and web version of the client as well. We hope to see this service continue to offer outstanding quality, as it offers a truly unique, quality product which is hard to find these days on any platform.

39 Money Weird Facts That Will Blow Your Away (amazing, news, report, facts, finacne, cash, Auckland)

1. More of our fantasies are about money… than …

2. If we could have any luxury in the world (and money didn’t matter) more of us would choose to spend money on a butler and a maid than anything else.
3. 90% of Americans who own pets buy them Christmas gifts.
4. Money is the leading cause of disagreements in marriages.
5. 65% of Americans would live on a deserted island all by themselves for an entire year for $1,000,000.
6. For $10,000,000 most of us would do almost ANYTHING! Including abandoning our family and friends and our church. A very high percentage of us would, for that same amount of money, change our race or gender. And, 1 in every 14, would even murder someone for ten million bucks. What’s really strange about this is, the statistics remain the same whether it’s ten million dollars all the way down to three million. For three million bucks, most of us would do the same horrible things we would do for ten million. But, guess what? Few of us would do these things for a “measly” two million.
7. 92% of us would rather be rich than find the love of our lives.
8. Here’s a weighty one: Money (or the lack thereof) is the biggest stress inducer in the lives of Americans. We worry more about money than our marriages, our health, or even who’s going to win the Superbowl Game or come out on top in the latest Survivor TV show.
9. If you get your money out of a Hitachi ATM machine in Japan, it will be laundered. The way they do it is, they briefly press the bills between rollers at high enough temperatures to kill most bacteria.
10. Women have very fixed ideas on how much they are willing to spend on a bra. 38.3% of women won’t spend $30 for a bra. 28.4% won’t spend $50. 10% would pay as much as $75. And, only 3.5% would shell out $100. But, you know what? Almost 20% of womensay they would pay almost anything for a bra. This is because they consider (and I guess so do a few men) that the contents of what those bras are encasing is of extremely high-value.
11. Nearly half of the people who sell their houses with furniture included will take all the light bulbs out of all the lamps when they vacate the premises.
12. Most people won’t bend over to pick up money lying on the sidewalk unless it’s at least a dollar.
13. Most Americans think pennies are a pain in the ass and the U.S. Mint should stop making them.
14. There is about 405 billion dollars in circulation. Only 32 million of that amount is counterfeit. That means, the percentage of counterfeit money in America is .0079%. And, $20 bills are more often counterfeited than $100 bills.
15. Do people care if their bills are crisp? Indeed, they do. Fresh, crisp, clean bills are considered much more valuable than those which are old, wrinkled and dirty. I once sent a ‘dollar bill thank you’ letter to a guy who sent a sincere letter back to me bitching the free $1 bill I sent him was wrinkled instead of crisp as I had described in the letter.
16. Let’s flip a coin and try to guess whether it will come up heads or tails. Three times as many people guess ‘heads’ than ‘tails’.
17. Here’s one I personally think really sucks: One out of every four Americans believe their best chance of getting rich is by playing the lottery.
18. How about this one for a shocking fact: 5% of lottery ticket buyers buy 51% of all tickets sold. (Trust me, none of these people belong to the “Einsteins of America Society”.)
19. A staggering 74% of us are influenced by how much we can win in a lottery as opposed to the odds of us winning. That’s a good thing for the Government because the odds of winning a lottery jackpot are about 10 million to 1.
20. A person who drives 10 miles to buy a lottery ticket is 3 times more likely to be killed in a car accident while driving to buy the ticket… than… he is to win the jackpot.
21. Sunday newspaper coupon inserts are the second-most read section of the paper, after the front page. Few people know it but, you can buy single-disease insurance.
22. Only 6% of people in America regularly buy clothes tailor made just for them.
23. Here’s one that’s really important: 63% of us decide NOT to buy a product advertised on the Internet… because… we think the shipping and handling charges add too much to the order.
24. Eight times as many Americans would rather use an ATM than deal with a real live teller.
25. This one’s going to blow your mind: 83% of Americans still pay with checks instead ofcredit cards!
26. Almost 30% of us say we would need 3 million smackaroos to feel rich. This ties in with the fact most of us would do anything for as little as $3 million… but… not nearly as many of us would do those identical things for a measly $2 million. (Hey, here’s your chance to take advantage of that situation. If you only want to pay $2 million to have something done, ask me if I’ll do it. The chances are, believe it or not, I WILL DO IT.)
27. Here’s another fact which is really, really important: 80% of Americans say giving personal information (especially their credit card information) over the Internet scares the living shit out of them.
28. Two-thirds of Americans say they wouldn’t let their spouse spend the night and share intimacy with another person for a million dollars. Many of these people are liars. There’s a big difference being asked if they would do it for a million dollars… as opposed to… handing them a paper sack containing the million fungolas and simply saying, “Here, you can have this if you’ll let me sleep with your sweetie tonight.”
29. The average wedding in America costs a staggering $20,000.00.
30. More than one-third of American women consider money more important than intimacy to the success of a marriage.
31. According to Employee Benefits Research Institute 96% of all people who have jobs right now won’t be eligible for their full Social Security benefits when they reach age 65.
32. When it comes to houses, more than anything else, people want a state-of-the-art kitchen.
33. When people shop for a car, what they want more than anything else is reliability for the best possible price.
34. One of the best ways to raise money for a charity is to have a free dinner for a lot of people and have an empty envelope tucked under their plate… for the express purpose… of making whatever size donation they want.
35. People tip more on sunny days than they do on dreary days.
36. More than 80,000,000 people call the I.R.S. Information Hotline phone number every year. One-third of those calls go unanswered. And, according to the Treasury Department itself, 47% of the answers the ‘get-through’ callers receive are incorrect.
37. Almost two out of three people have modified their financial behavior because of their fears.
38. Almost three times as many people who live in the South worry about losing their jobs as compared to people who live in the Midwest.
39. Which would you rather do: Shop till you drop… or have an intimate relationship? For men, this is a no-brainer. However, more women would actually rather have an unlimited shopping spree than spend a weekend with a fabulous lover. In fact, the #1 favorite fantasy of women is to have a blank check to shop at their favorite store. The favorite fantasy of men (at least in my opinion) is what we would like to DO to the sales girl… rather than… what we would like to buy from her.

Have you seen a 2,400 years-old-soup? (history, find, discovery, strange, people, culture, bronze, age)

Chinese archaeologists have discovered a 2,400-year-old soup, sealed in a bronze cooking vessel in a tomb, while they were working on the extension of the airport in Xian.  http://tiny.cc/oldsoup

The region of Xian is considered as the home to the country's famed ancient terracotta warriors.
The liquid of the 2,400-year-old soup and bones in the vessel had turned green due to the oxidation of the bronze. It has been reported that scientists are expected to conduct further tests to know about the ingredients of the liquid and confirm that the liquid is indeed soup.
Another bronze pot containing an odorless liquid believed to be wine was also found by the archaeologists in the tomb.
The 2,400-year-old soup and ancient pots found in China are indicative of the ancient custom of the country according to which the dead were buried with food items for their next life.
It is expected that the discovery of 2,400-year-old soup will play an important role in studying eating habits and culture of early period.

The Top 10 Cydia Apps of 2010 for Apple iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4G (hack, mod, modding, Installous, "Abby Technology" 0212640000, Auckland)

In this post, we look at everything from Cylay to Cycorder and deliver our verdict on what the best Cydia apps of 2010 are. If you're ready to upgrade your phone to make it better than ever, read on inside.  http://tiny.cc/2cydia
And the Winners are...
Thought we were done with our extensive coverage of 2009’s best Cydia apps? We were just scratching the surface. We’ve now taken the 2009’s best of list and added 6 additional apps, bringing up the total to 10 amazing Cydia apps you can’t live without. If you’re ready, here are the winners for the best apps of 2010 (thus far):
Installous
Installous once again has wowed us with its ability to be so much more than a simple app repository. Due to the overwhelming number of pirates on the previous Appulo.us server, the app now uses a better, harder, faster, stronger server that’s much, much, much more user and network friendly. Browsing and downloading apps is now easier than ever on your 3G phone. Again, we caution you to watch out for apps that are just pirated versions of App Store apps. Rather, use Installous to get those apps that are gone now from the App Store or couldn’t make it on there in the first place (like those with adult content).
Note: The install process remains the same, you need to add the hackulo.us repository to Cydia. Simply go into Cydia, navigate over to Manage, then click on Sources, and click Edit in the top right hand corner, then Add on the top left corner, once you’ve clicked add, type in “Cydia.hackulo.us” into the http repository screen. Then tap on Add Source and it’ll give you a message about piracy. Click OK on the message and download Installous through this new repo!
Cycorder
Cycorder is a little less pivotal this time around because 3GS users already know what it’s like to have a good video camera on the phone. Nevertheless, Cycorder is a tremendous app for those of us who still live just fine with our 3G iPhones. Cycorder records video just as well as it did last year and has added a few bug fixes since the writing of this article last August. Today you’ll find a much easier-to-use app as well as one that’s a bit more flexible in terms of shooting.
The ability to SSH into the phone and extract the videos remains a huge draw for those amateur videographers without video-camera equipped iPhones.
Note: REMEMBER TO FILM YOUR VIDEOS IN HORIZONTAL MODE! If you don’t, you’ll have to change the orientation of the videos in a very roundabout way.
Wi-Fi Sync
Wi-Fi Sync is a new app we're adding to the list for 2010 - a real must-see-it-to-believe it app. All it requires is that both your iPhone and PC with iTunes installed be on the same network together. Once you have the app downloaded and the required program running on your PC (with either Mac OSX or Windows 7), the software interfaces with your iPhone a single time and pairs it with your PC - much the way a Bluetooth device would be paired with its counterpart.
Once both devices are paired and ready, the software on the PC tricks your computer into thinking your iPhone is hooked up to it via USB. Then it proceeds to sync wirelessly through your network. The retail price for the app is $9.99, which may seem a bit steep, but considering that many of the iPhone users I've met don't ever hook up their iPhones to their PCs, but rather to chargers, this idea of wirelessly syncing your files, photos, videos, and music is something quite extraordinary, that Apple might want to look into in their next iOS update. Total Transparency: I ran the app using my new iPhone 4 and it ran quite well and fast - your mileage may vary when it comes to earlier iOS devices.
Cylay 3.0
In 2009 I cast off Cylay because of Apple’s new MobileMe service that can find your phone for you without need for any jailbreaking. However, in the months since then, it has come to light that MobileMe isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, so I’m changing sides here and recommending you stick with Cylay for your security needs.
Cylay functions as essentially an all-in-one security app (minus a firewall – see next page) to ensure your phone is safe and in your possession at all times. Cylay doesn’t really bring new features to the table, but it is an incredible app that no one should be walking around without.
Categories
Categories is a pivotal app for those of us that want a little more organization out of our phones. Categories allows the user to “wrangle” the icons on the various home screens into a self-contained folder that can then launch those programs. The idea works as well as it is ingenious – that is to say incredibly well.
Games, Jailbreak, and “Useless System Apps” currently populate my 2 home screens. And while Categories is useful for separating and launching individual apps, I would still recommend launching more intensive apps outside of the folder browser.
SwirlyMMS2
MMS is a recent feature of the iPhone that has made a big splash in the tech community because it was something that EVERY other phone out there was capable of doing. Thankfully, MMS is now available on any and all text messages you send out. However, this still eats into your 200 message limit if that’s something still limiting you on your account.
Fundamentally, Swirly is a better text messaging utility than BiteSMS, but the interface is a little less user friendly than Bite’s, requiring a bit more of an iPhone geek’s touch to work appropriately. However, unlike BiteSMS, the license is valid forever.
SBSettings
SBSettings is an essential (and totally free) application. Right after you jailbreak, after OpenSSH, this should be the second app you download off Cydia. SBSettings overlays a menu that contains the basic functions of the system “options” menus. This overlay menu is easily accessed by swiping the bar at the top of the screen with the time and contains things like Brightness, 3G, Wi-Fi, and other switches to turn things on and off.
Bar none, this app is the most useful thing inside Cydia for your daily use of the phone. Especially being able to control brightness inside ANY application will show you that your jailbreak was not in vain.
MCleaner
MCleaner is basically the iBlacklist app for the iPhone, but a bit more sophisticated. Unfortunately, unlike last year when a vast majority of the apps on the store were free, MCleaner too is not free. However, you can give it a 15 day trial and see if it is for you. What it basically does is MCleaner creates blacklists and whitelists of callers that you can decide upon. Then, you can even choose how the phone will ignore a blacklisted caller for instance.
Several other security features make this an incredible app as well, even though it is a bit on the pricey side ($11.99). You can fake data instead of showing the network you typed in a wrong password, SMS previews on the lockscreen can be disabled as well, and even SMS can be filtered to prevent annoying people from contacting you.
3G Unrestrictor
Other paid apps are cool to have if you need them, but 3G Unrestrictor is a relatively cheap ($3) app that is vital if you’re ever going to take your iPhone into the “Unlimited” plan you actually purchased it for. In 2009, I advised you to get VOIPover3G, that app has been discontinued and has been replaced by a bevy of 3G restriction-lifting apps. 3G Unrestrictor continues to be the cheapest and best of the best.
What this app does is it enables you to access the 3G network for things the iPhone would normally block by tricking it into thinking that it is operating over Wi-Fi. This means that you can make Skype calls out on the middle of the highway, or watch videos over Slingbox while waiting in the doctor’s office that doesn’t have Wi-Fi. Personally, lifting the 10 Mb limits on the App Store and iTunes respectively is awesome – because now larger podcast downloads are just clicks away.
Firewall iP
Firewall iP works for you in ways that I didn’t think would be possible on an iPhone. Basically, Firewall iP functions as Zonealarm would on the PC but on your iPhone, allowing through traffic and blocking traffic just as a real firewall would. For those that jailbreak often and download a lot online, a decent firewall is great protection on a PC, but it seems like it’s quickly becoming essential on the iPhone as well.
Block your incoming and outgoing connections on an app-by-app basis with an interface similar to the one found on SBSettings. It's all integrated and works amazingly well.

How to Manually Add Songs to Your Apple iPhone 3GS through iTunes (guide, tips, info, tools, iOS, help, info, "Abby Technology", Auckland")

iTunes, by default, will sync all of your media with your iPhone. You can also manually pick and choose which files to sync with your iPhone.  Disclaimers: This post is meant for academical research and reading pleasures only. Author of this blog is not liable for any damages done to your iPhone if you claimed that the content of this post lead you to damage your own phone; so, do please be warned! http://tiny.cc/2add
How Automatic Sycning Works
Many iPhone owners may notice that when they plug in their iPhone to their computers, that it syncs to your library. What this means is it adds all of the media such as photos, music, videos and so on that you have in your entire iTunes library. This would be a great feature if your iPhone had an unlimited amount of space.
Problems with the Automatic Sync Feature
All of the benefits of having your iPhone automatically sync to your computer, as you all know, are not always a benefit as the iPhone is limited to either 4GB, 8GB, 16GB or 32GB . Thus, users who have very large libraries of movies, music and pictures may exceed those limits.
So what can you do if you only want a couple songs from an album instead of the whole thing? Well that's where selecting the manual option to manage your iPhone feature comes into play.
Here we'll go through the steps you can take to disable the automatic sync option on your iPhone/iTunes so that you can manually manage which songs are added to your iPhone to conserve precious hard drive space.
How to Disable the Automatic Sync Option
Your first step to setting this up is to plug in you iPhone to your computer. When this is done you will see that it will show up as a device in iTunes. When you see it show up click on the name of your iPhone, for example, mine is called Chris's iPhone. When you click on it it will show your overall menu for your iPhone, things like the info, ringtones, music, photos, but the very first tab should say summary. This is where you will select the option manually manage music and video.
You will see three boxes in the lower half of the menu, it's technically located under the "options.
The default box checked is normally the "automatically sync when this iPhone is connected. Deselect that box and then check the manually manage music and videos. This will ask you if you want to erase and sync, approve that.
Syncing on Your Own
Once the manually manage option is checked and it has synced up you are ready to go. Keep in mind that this is the only time the iPhone will sync, once it's done you will be able to manually pick and choose your songs and videos you want on your iPhone.

How to Manually Add Songs
So the hard part is done. You should now have the manually manage music and video box checked. From here you can click on the music option on the left side under the Library section. You then will just click on a song and simply drag it to your iPhone. You should see a a little green plus icon pop up as the song hovers over the iPhone. When you release the mouse, it will be added to the iPhone. That's all you got to do.
Now if you would like to remove an item from your iPhone it's just as simple. Make sure your iPhone is plugged in and click on the music option that is located under your iPhone. Go and select the song you want to remove and just click the delete button on your keyboard. That's all that needs to be done. You will see the file disappear and it is no longer on your iPhone.
Now you are only able to sync your iPhone to one iTunes library, so every time you plug an iPhone into a different computer then you will have to erase and sync your iPhone so it will only remain to not sync if you keep using the same iTunes library.
This feature makes it a little easier to maintain the space on your iPhone for what you want so take advantage of it and enjoy. Check out a guide about deleting iPhone apps from your iPhone to save even more space.

Tethering Guide for Auckland Apple iPhone 4 or iOS4 (tech, tips, guide, help, info, user, tools, Abby Technology Limited, NZ)

Tether your iPhone 4 or iPhone running iOS4 via Wi-Fi. Share the iPhone 4 internet connection with your laptop or other Wi-Fi enabled devices, even your PC. Enjoy streaming media, web pages, email and everything else about the internet using your iPhone 4 or iOS4 enabled device and Wi-Fi tethering.  http://tiny.cc/2tether
iOS4 Tethering: Options
With the release of the iOS4 and the iPhone 4 many users are anxious to enable Wi-Fi tethering. Wi-Fi tethering will enable users to share their iPhone internet connection with other devices wirelessly. iPhone 4 and iOS4 Wi-Fi tethering is quite easy to use and it is built into the iOS4 operating system.
Many cellular networks such as AT&T require users to purchase a special tethering plan to use tethering with their iPhone. Tethering plans are often over priced and do not offer large amounts of data transfer. Users with jailbroken iPhone's can enjoy the luxury of Wi-Fi tethering using their cellular data network without purchasing a tethering package. Accomplishing unofficial tethering will require the use of special software that can be downloaded on a jailbroken iPhone.
Users of non-jailbroken iPhones who simply wish to utilize tethering through a tethering plan on their cellular network can do so quite easily. This guide will cover the official Wi-Fi tethering method for the iPhone 4 and iOS4 and then afterwards it will explain how to tether with a jailbroken iPhone 4 or iOS4.
iOS4: Official Tethering
Tethering the iPhone 4 and iOS4 the official way will often require you to purchase a tethering package from your wireless provider. The procedure for purchasing a tethering package will vary based on provider. Not all users will need to purchase a tethering package. You can test to see if a tethering package is required by activating internet tethering. To activate Wi-Fi tethering for iOS4 follow these steps:
Open settings. Tap the grey settings icon on the home screen of your iPhone.
Choose network. Tap on "General". Tap on "Network" to open the network settings section.
Enable tethering. Enable Wi-Fi tethering in iOS4 by tapping "Set up Internet Tethering". Choose Wi-Fi if you are prompted on which method to use for tethering.
Purchase a tethering package. The iPhone may prompt you to enable internet tethering for your account. This will require you to contact your wireless provider and purchase a tethering package. Once you have purchased a tethering package repeat the steps in this guide. If you are not prompted to purchase a tethering package, skip this step.
iOS4 Tethering: Jailbroken Method

Tethering with the iPhone 4 and iOS4 can be easily accomplished with the built-in tethering functionality. The built-in tethering function is both limited and requires a subscription to a tethering package with your wireless carrier. Jailbroken users can enjoy the use of tethering without a tethering package and without limitations using a great piece of software called "MyWi".
Open Cydia.
Open Cydia by clicking the Cydia icon on your iPhone's home screen.

Search for MyWi. Tap "Search" on the navigation bar of Cydia. Type "MyWi" in the search box and tap search.
Download MyWi. Tap MyWi to bring up the install option. Select "Install" in the upper right corner. Select "Confirm" in the
upper right corner to begin the download and installation.
Launch MyWi. Tap the MyWi icon on the home screen of your iPhone to launch MyWi.
Enable Tethering. Tap the slide next to "Enable Tethering" to turn tethering on in iOS4 or on the iPhone 4. Set the Wi-Fi name to anything you would like. You may also set security when using Wi-Fi tethering for iOS4 and iPhone 4 with MyFi.

Tango: 3G Video Call free App for Apple iPhone 3GS iOS (review, tech, tips. tools, voip, Auckland)

Mobile video calling is not an entirely new concept. However the launch of FaceTime on iPhone 4 has rejuvenated this emerging market and now we are getting to see a lot of activity in this space.  http://tiny.cc/2tango
While Apple rivals like Google are rumored to be working on their own mobile video calling apps, third party developers too have been launching their own applications.
One such application that launched last week is Tango; a cross-platform software developed by a Palo Alto based startup by the same name. The application presently works on iOS as well as Android platforms. Unlike FaceTime, Tango can be used to communicate with friends who do not own an iPhone 4 or iPod Touch 4G.
Tango also comes with a number of other advantages over FaceTime. The application can work over Wi-Fi as well as 3G and also works over phones that do not come with a front-facing camera. This would effectively make it possible for users of iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G to engage in a video chat as well though these users may not be able to relay video from their end. It is also worth noting that Tango lets users toggle the relay between the front-facing and rear-facing cameras and hence users may also point out to other objects using their rear camera while they are engaged in a mobile video conversation just like FaceTime.
According to Walt Mossberg from the Wall Street Journal, one of the most powerful aspects about the Tango app is its easy-to-use interface. The application does not require the user to fill out lengthy profile forms like Fring and only requires the users' phone number and email address for registration. Also, the application periodically scans the users' address book for information on other contacts who have installed the app on their mobile phone. These details are automatically added to the Tango address book for easy access. The company however notes that these contact details are entirely secure since they are stored locally and not on the company's servers.
While this is definitely a must-have app for those of you looking to video chat with your friends, do note that the app leaves a lot to be desired as of now. Mossberg points out that the video quality is pretty unreliable at times though it does appear to work well over Wi-Fi networks on most counts. Despite this, it may be noted that the application currently supports over 25 different handsets and is hence pretty useful.

Believe it or not, absolutely free Voice call via Viber, Apple iPhone (free, apps, download, review, voip, Skype, Auckland)

There's a new player in the mobile VoIP calling space and it goes by the name - Viber. The Viber app lets you call other iPhone users with the app installed on their phone - for free. That applies to both domestic and international calls. Read on to find out whether you should get this app or not.  http://tiny.cc/2viber
Viber is a new iPhone app that lets you make free calls both domestically and internationally. Now, you might say that you have a free unlimited calling feature on your mobile data plan, so why bother using Viber if your objective is to make free calls? Well, actually those free calls you make via your usual mobile carrier's phone plan consume the alloted calling privileges. With Viber, you are not charged with anything. No airtime cost for calling friends. Why is that so? - Because with Viber you are actually using VoIP. Meaning internet calls not unlike your regular phone calls that pass through your carrier's network. Though this will require a data plan or Wi-Fi. Got the difference? Now, it's time to learn about the features of the Viber app.
Viber iPhone App - Features
Discussing the Viber app's features is like giving out the reasons why you should get this app running on your iPhone. First, it has no hidden costs. As long as the person you are calling has also installed the app, both of you can use it to talk as much as you want. Both of your iPhones must be connected to the Internet via 3G or Wi-Fi.
What's good about the Viber app is that you can make phone calls with your friends internationally. It's a VoIP calling service, so the only time you'll get charged is when you connect via 3G. But if done through Wi-Fi, your calls are totally free.
Another nice feature of the app is that it doesn't require username, passwords or registration. It uses your iPhone's number to establish your identity in the Viber network. Likewise, the app doesn't require you to create a separate Viber buddy list. Your iPhone's address book is used by the app. The app automatically highlights friends in your address book that use Viber.
The app also lets you call friends on your iPhone's address book even if they don't have the app installed yet. If this is the case, the app converts the call into a regular phone call.
Other features of the Viber app for iPhone include - always on app feature, no need to add buddies, missed call notification, good sound quality and more.
The Verdict
Some people may say that the Viber app for iPhone is rather a useless app because if you make a call via 3G, you are charged for data airtime anyway, right? I agree. And most mobile carriers offer free, unlimited phone calling features anyway so why bother installing another app for this purpose?
The answers to those questions depend on the cost of maintaining your mobile plans, and the cost of maintaining your mobile data privileges. If making a phone call using your mobile data privileges is cheaper than using up your mobile plan's network privileges then Viber is a better option for you. You could also consider using the Viber app for iPhone since it gives you a "really free calling feature" when your iPhone is connected over Wi-Fi.
By the way, the Viber app for iPhone is free. So, there's no harm in giving it a try. Who knows, you might actually like it?

Ultrasn0w For iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G Will Unlock All Basebands, Including iOS 4.2.1 Baseband 05.15.04

It was reported yesterday that iPhone Dev Team plans to release the eagerly awaited unlock for iPhone 3GS and iPhone 3G for iOS 4.2.1 on Sunday.

However, it is not clear if the updated version of Ultrasn0w will unlock baseband 05.15.04 that was shipped with iOS 4.2.1.

But we have some good news for users who have accidentally updated their iPhone 3GS or iPhone 3G with iOS 4.2.1 and updated the baseband to 05.15.04.

MuscleNerd has just confirmed that the updated Ultrasn0w will also unlock baseband 05.15.04.

ssstephD: @MuscleNerd will the new ultrasn0w unlock be able to unl0ck baseband 5.15.04? made the big mistake of upgrading it =/ !

MuscleNerd: @ssstephD it covers 05.15.04 too -- but yeah, really need to stay vigilant about not updating :(

So users who have accidentally updated their iPhone 3GS or iPhone 3G to iOS 4.2.1 (not using the official iPhone carrier SIM) should be relieved as they will soon be able to use their iPhone.

The updated Ultrasn0w should also work on iOS 4.1 or earlier firmwares.

iPhone Dev team had mentioned earlier that the unlocking solution for iPhone 4 users will need more effort and were not in a position to provide any further information.

As always, we’ll let you know as soon as the updated Ultrasn0w is released so stay tuned here at Abby Technology or follow us on Twitter or subscribe to our RSS feed. SocialTwist Tell-a-Friend

Google Android Phones: Best App Killing Ideas To Boost Speed And Battery

Android task killers app is quite popular among Android phone users and if you are a new on Android phone then here is the tutorial to better understand how and when to kill an app in order to improve the battery backup and boost phone speed.
You can find many task killing app available on the Android Market which is basically an app that forces other apps to quit, with the fewer apps you have running in the background, the better your Android phone’s performance and battery life will be.
First you should clear some misconception about Android apps and processes consuming resources.
Processes and Apps are two different things on Android. An app can stay running in the background without any processes eating up your phone’s resources. The app remains in the phone memory so it launches quickly and returns to its state. When your phone runs out of memory, Android will automatically start killing tasks on its own, starting with ones that you haven’t used in awhile.
The best practice when deciding on which Android app to kill first should be based on CPU usage and not the amount of memory in use. Its not a good practice to activate the autokill feature and always check for the app which is taking up the most CPU time and is not in use.
There are experts who think that task killer apps are absolutely unnecessary and cause more problems than the solution. Sometimes you may even kill important processes that will block the basic functionality like text messages notifications and alarm settings.
If you are not aware of the apps and processes running on the Android phone then you should better leave it to the operating system to handle. The Android 2.2 and the upcomingAndroid 3.0 are quite smart in deciding which app should be killed if its taking too much of resources and not in use.  (http://tiny.cc/AndroidBattery)
